8th Day - She's Not Just Another Woman

July 1971 - Weeks On Chart: 8 - Highest Position: 14

I would describe this as generic Detroit soul. It's not terrible but I didn't see any reason to listen to all of it.

8th Day started out as a fictional creation. When the band 100 Proof (Aged In Soul) was charting with "Somebody's Been Sleeping" (also listed on this website) and their song "She's Not Just Another Woman" started receiving airplay at the same time, the production team of Holland-Dozier-Holland decided to release this song under the name of 8th Day.

"She's Not Just Another Woman" reached #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. A followup single, "You've Got To Crawl (Before You Walk)", was also successful, reaching #28, though it didn't get airplay in Toronto. After this, an actual 8th Day band was put together but didn't achieve any success.

This 8th Day is not to be confused with a Jewish-American band of the same name that was formed in 2004 and has been regularly producing singles and albums since then.

Created January 14, 2026.
