This sounds like a lot of what Motown was producing in the 1960s, except without the awesome backing sound of the Funk Brothers (the Motown house band).
Shawne Jackson was from Toronto. "Just As Bad As You" was her only hit single, reaching #10 nationally in Canada. It was written by her husband, Domenic Troiano, who was a member of The Guess Who at the time. He passed away from prostate cancer in 2005; I'm not sure whether the couple divorced before then, as different websites provide conflicting information on this. Her date of birth also isn't listed anywhere.
In later life, Ms. Jackson pursued an acting career. She was the great-granddaughter of Albert Jackson, Canada's first Black letter carrier.
