My thought on listening to this was that it showed off vocal dexterity but didn't have a lot of real emotion. To me, that made it not particularly interesting.
The Shepherd Sisters were four sisters from Middletown, Ohio. "Alone (Why Must I Be Alone)" was their only significant hit, reaching #18 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #14 on the UK singles chart. They toured with DJ Alan Freed's "America's Greatest Teenage Recording Stars", along with the Everly Brothers, Paul Anka, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, and others.
The sisters eventually moved to the cabaret circuit, performing in Reno and Las Vegas. Three of the four sisters have passed away, with only Mary Lou Shepherd (born 1934) surviving as of 2018.
