The link above is to the mono 45 version of this song. I've never heard it before but I can vividly imagine hearing it on the transistor radio that I owned when I was ten. I don't think it's that great a song but I enjoyed remembering my old radio.
The Rose Garden were from Los Angeles. They evolved from a band called The Blokes that played a lot of Byrds cover versions. "Next Plane To London" reached #17 on the Billboard Hot 100, so it did much better in Toronto than in most places.
Subsequent releases didn't do well, which led to disagreements. Eventually, two of the group were drafted into the U.S. Army, which finished the group off by the end of 1968.
