Julie Rogers - The Wedding

December 1964 - Weeks On Chart: 16 - Highest Position: 2

For the first minute or so, this song sounds like something Patsy Cline might sing. After that, a whole bunch of backing vocals and orchestration are piled on, in much the same way that Phil Spector built his Wall Of Sound. I can't say that I love this song but it's well constructed and I listened to the whole thing.

Julie Rogers (born 1943) was from the Bermondsey district of London. "The Wedding" was her second single; it reached #3 in the UK, #10 on the US Billboard Hot 100, and #1 in Australia.

Ms. Rogers had two other British hit singles in 1965; this was enough to enable her to tour the world for several decades. She last released an album in 2003.

Created July 29, 2026.
