This is basically a standard country music song. Country isn't my thing, but lots of people like it.
Little Jimmy Dickens (1920-2015) got his name because he was only 4'10". He was apparently also the first performer to wear rhinestone-studded outfits, which became commonly worn by country musicians in live performance.
Dickens had a long career in country music. He started performing on radio in West Virginia in the late 1930s and placed records on the country chart between 1949 and 1972. "May The Bird Of Paradise Fly Up Your Nose" was the only song of his that charted significantly on the Billboard Hot 100, reaching #15.
Dickens had appeared on the Grand Ole Opry from 1948 to 1957 and rejoined it in 1975; by 2009, he was its oldest living member, referring to himself as "Willie Nelson after taxes". He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1983.
