This is a pleasant bit of jazz-funk noodling with occasional outbursts of excerpts from "Also Sprach Zarathustra", a composition by Richard Strauss used as theme music in the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey. It served as background music for me while I typed this.
Eumir Deodato de Almeida (born 1942) was from Brazil. His recording of "Also Sprach Zarathustra (2001)" reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100, #3 nationally in Canada, #7 on the UK singles chart, and won a Grammy Award in 1974 for Best Pop Instrumental Performance.Deodato has worked as an arranger and producer on more than 500 records, including recordings by Frank Sinatra, Roberta Flack, and Kool & The Gang. He also has continued his own recording, last releasing an album in 2010. His daughter is married to actor Stephen Baldwin and his granddaughter is married to Justin Bieber.
