March 1974 - Toronto CHUM chart highest position: 4
Whether you like this song or not depends on whether you want to hear a musical rendition of The Lord's Prayer.
Janet Mead (1937-2022) was from Australia and was, indeed, a nun. Her rendition of "The Lord's Prayer" reached #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and sold over one and a half million copies. It was the second top-10 song ever recorded by a nun, the first being "Dominique".
Ms. Mead apparently did not enjoy the pressure of fame, which is understandable. Instead of continuing a career as a pop musician, she went back to being a nun while performing and producing Christian music. She was named the South Australian of the Year in 2004 for her work with homeless people.
