I vaguely remembered this song but had to do a search on the internet to find out who sang it. Wikipedia points out that it borrows heavily from a traditional gospel song called "Amen"; like many traditional gospel songs, it features upbeat repetition of the same passages. I lost interest in it after a bit.
Teegarden & Van Winkle were a duo from Tulsa, Oklahoma, and then moved to Detroit. "God, Love And Rock & Roll" (which probably needs an Oxford comma in its title) reached #22 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The duo released singles up to 1971 and albums up to 1973 without further success before separately joining forces with other Detroit-based musicians. They reunited for an album in 1997. Skip Van Winkle passed away in 2018; David Teegarden is still alive.
