The Beach Boys were originally managed by Murry Wilson, who was the father of three of the Boys, Brian, Dennis, and Carl. When they fired him in 1964, Murry Wilson located The Renegades, a group from nearby Pacific Palisades, California. He changed their name to The Sunrays, took over as their manager, and attempted to reproduce the Beach Boys' success by duplicating their sound.
The Sunrays tried as best they could but lacked the important part, which was Brian Wilson's songwriting and arranging ability. They did manage to reach the Billboard charts three times in their career: "I Live For The Sun" reached #50, "Andrea" reached #41, and "Still" reached #93. They released their last single in 1967.
