The "Women In Rock and Roll's First Wave" website has an entry on The Rhythmettes. They were from Detroit, Michigan and formed in 1950; they were together until at least 1956, but I don't know what happened to them. While this site lists them as part of rock and roll's first wave, there wasn't really anything rock and roll about them; they're from an earlier time.
These Rhythmettes are not to be confused with a singing trio named The Rhythmettes that performed in various Hollywood films in the 1930s and 1940s.
