This is so obviously a song from another time. You can almost see the cars with huge tail fins driving up and down the street. I found it charming.
The Quin-Tones were from York, Pennsylvania, and attended high school together (William Penn High School, to be precise). "Down The Aisle Of Love" reached #20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and #5 on the R&B chart. The group performed on American Bandstand and received a standing ovation when performing at the Apollo Theater as part of a country-wide tour.
The Quin-Tones released a total of five singles and broke up in 1960 when their lead singer, Roberta Haymon, walked down the aisle of love. They reformed in 1986 and continued with some lineup changes into the 1990s. Ms. Haymon passed away in 1996; none of the original members are still alive.
