This starts off sounding like the national anthem for a country no one has ever heard of and then morphs into a catchy bit of big-band jazz. I'm not sure I'd want to listen to it multiple times.
Reg Owen (1921-1978) was an English conductor and arranger. During the late 1950s and early 1960s, he wrote a number of film scores for movies.
"Manhattan Spiritual" reached #10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #20 on the UK singles chart. It was Owen's only charting single in the US; a followup release, "Obsession", made it to #43 in the UK. Later in life, he moved to Brussels and then to Spain, continuing to do what he was doing, only now in Europe, until he passed away and couldn't do it anymore.
