The Kitchen Cinq - You'll Be Sorry Someday

January 1967 - Weeks On Chart: 8 - Highest Position: 12

This is basically classic garage rock. Its most memorable moments are the pause in the chorus between the two syllables of "someday" - by my count, it runs about four seconds each time.

The Kitchen Cinq were from Amarillo, Texas. They were originally known as The Illusions and The Y'alls before becoming The Kitchen Cinq (there were five of them and "cinq" is French for "five" and, well, sigh). "You'll Be Sorry Someday" was originally the B-side of their first release, "Determination". It doesn't seem to have charted nationally, so possibly CHUM's program director just liked it and decided to put it into rotation.

The band released a total of six singles - one under the name "A Handful" - plus an album, titled Everything but the Kitchen Cinq. They disbanded in 1968.

Created December 3, 2025.
