This song employs the classic late 1950s/early 1960s chord progression; to me, it sounds similar to the early ska and rocksteady records that were recorded in Jamaica a few years later. But is it just me, or is the guy who is playing the stick percussion at the start of the song slightly off the beat?
Ron Holden (1939-1997) was from Seattle, Washington. "Love You So" reached #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in April 1960. He continued to perform for the rest of his life and reached #49 on the U.S. R&B chart in 1974 with "Can You Talk?" (which I could only stand to listen to for 30 seconds, alas).
