Paul Gayten (1920-1991) was a piano player and bandleader in the 1940s and 1950s. His band started as a trio and expanded into a nine-piece orchestra. He made the top ten in the U.S. Billboard chart twice in 1947 and his band appeared on double bills with Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker, among others. In 1956, he became an executive, talent scout, and part-time recording artist for Chess Records, eventually relocating to Los Angeles.
"Windy" is a cover version of Tom Hark, a song recorded by Elias and His Zig-Zag Jive Flutes in 1956. This version reached #2 in the UK singles chart in 1958 after it was used as the theme music for a British television series.
