Ralph Emery - Hello Fool

September 1961 - Weeks On Chart: 4 - Highest Position: 33

"Hello Fool" is an answer song, written as a response to country music star Faron Young's "Hello Walls", which reached #6 on the CHUM chart in May 1961. (Young had more than one charted hit, so he is not eligible for this website.) In Young's original, he says hello to various parts of his house as he laments the departure of his sweetheart. In "Hello Fool", the house answers back, claiming that she is better off without him. Emery narrates rather than sings this; it's something somewhat, um, different. I can't say I actually liked it, but finding songs such as these is why I do this.

Ralph Emery (1933-2022) was a country music disc jockey and radio and TV personality, nicknamed "the Dick Clark of country music". He became well-known when he became the host of the TV show Pop! Goes the Country in 1974.

Created December 4, 2025.
