This is a novelty country and western song. Country isn't my thing but this was kind of fun. I'm surprised it's never been covered, as far as I know.
Jack Blanchard & Misty Morgan were a husband-and-wife country music duo from Florida. They released 14 singles between 1969 and 1974, some of which were more serious than others. "Tennessee Bird Walk", their second release, reached #1 on the Billboard country chart and #23 on the Hot 100. Their followup, "Humphrey the Camel", tried possibly too hard to reproduce the success of its predecessor but didn't quite get there, reaching #5 on the country chart but only making it to #78 on the pop chart.
The duo stopped recording entirely, except for a compilation album, between 1974 and 1995. In the early 2000s, they recorded a few albums on their own label, Velvet Saw Records. Misty Morgan passed away in 2021; Jack Blanchard is still alive as I write this and will turn 84 this year.
