Johnny Faire - Bertha Lou

February 1958 - Weeks On Chart: 1 - Highest Position: 48

Clint Miller - Bertha Lou

February 1958 - Weeks On Chart: 2 - Highest Position: 48

For some reason, there were two separate versions of the same song appearing on the CHUM Chart in February 1958. Neither of them are particularly memorable, which presumably is why neither of them got past #48 on the chart. Both are trying a bit to sound like Elvis.

Johnny Faire was an early pseudonym of Donnie Brooks, who has his own entry in this website. (Technically, Brooks is a two-hit wonder, but I count them separately if they are under different names. I get to make the rules around here.)

Clinton Miller (born 1939) was still in high school when he reached #79 on the Billboard Hot 100 with his version of "Bertha Lou". He continued releasing singles into the early 1960s without success. In later life, he became a lawyer and served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 1972 to 1996.
