Raymond Hatton (1887-1971) may never have returned to stardom, but he kept working: he appeared in over 500 movies during his lifetime. During the late 1930s and 1940s, he specialized in westerns; he appeared regularly as Rusty Joslin in the Three Mesquiteers series of movies, and he played Marshal Sandy Hopkins in over two dozen films in the "Marshal Nevada Jack McKenzie" series.

In the 1950s, he branched into television, including several appearances in Adventures of Superman. His last role was playing an elderly hitchhiker in the movie version of In Cold Blood (1967).
